The Library Development Foundation (LDF) is a Zambian NGO founded on the premise of raising the country’s reading culture and literacy skills. We aim to provide an environment of support, learning, and growth for people of different backgrounds, interests, and skills.

1. To promote literacy, education, and community development by establishing and supporting libraries through creative presentations like drama, radio talk shows, debating competitions, etc.
2. Need Identification and Assessment: Trace and assess needy children in communities and families.
3. Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and the government.
4. Sustainability: Ensure long-term sustainability through fundraising, grants, and community support.
5. Scholarship Fund Management: Build capacity to manage scholarship funds for formal knowledge.
6. Capacity Building: Provide training and resources for librarians, teachers, and community elders.
7. Awareness Raising and Advocacy: Promote awareness raising and advocacy activities towards the aid of orphans or vulnerable families with no other means of accessing education and provide human rights.
8. Social Media Strategy: Utilize a robust social media strategy to promote activities, initiatives, and governments to promote literacy and education.
9. Book Donation Program: Collect and donate books to libraries, schools, and community centres and fundraise through local, national, and international mechanisms.
10. Establish Libraries: Create libraries in areas where access to books and educational resources is difficult. Thus improving the wellbeing of people by increasing access to education near the area of operation.
11. Protect Rights to Education: Protect the rights of access to formal primary & secondary education.
